Lawyers File Suit in SPS Technologies Fire-NBC10 Philadelphia

A group of lawyers filed a lawsuit against PLC technologies after a factory in the municipality of Abnington was destroyed in a fire last week.

On Thursday, February 20, 2025 in the lawsuit as a Wyncote resident and bus driver for a school district, which is affected by the latest fire with “potential” members of the class suit.

In an explanation, the lawyers involved said that they believe that “hundreds, if not thousands of people”, what the lawyers called were affected by a “wild four-alarm fire and explosion”.

“The fire and the explosion were caused by the defendant's failures in order to properly examine, maintain and/or operate the facility, including the location of the fire,”, said lawyers in a statement on submitting. They also claimed that SPS “did not maintain the industrial standards” and as a result “hundreds, if not thousands of people were damaged”.

The fire in the PLC Technologies Warehouse in the 301 Highland Avenue started on Monday at 9:43 p.m. after an explosion could be heard on the premises.

Officials said that at that time there were at least 60 employees in the building. They were all evacuated and taken into account. No injuries were reported.

However, the fire led to school disorders and residents that they should talk after the officials were initially concerned that fire fighting materials could react with chemicals on site to create arsenic – however, they did not find any evidence that this occurred.

After five days, the fire was finally deleted on Saturday, February 22, 2025.

In an explanation of the lawsuit, lawyers said that they plan to search for the answers and accountability for the allegedly predictable and avoidable catastrophe that triggered panic, evacuations, environmental warnings and widespread school and business closures. “

“In connection with state -owned companies, we will carry out a comprehensive investigation according to the rules of legal discovery and fully expect all relevant PLC recordings, including maintenance and administrative files for dangerous materials, together with other related system security documentation, fire suppression systems. – Including personnel and monitoring reports – without changing or delay, ”was an explanation for registration.

A representative of SPS Technologies on Sunday did not immediately answer a request for comments.
