This group helps the inmates that were released from prison to assimilate into civilian life

Salt Lake City – Shannon Mayer discovered who she is.

“I don't really know who I am. I have been in a relationship for 11 years and have just found out how I can be alone again. It was a bit difficult, do you know? “Said Mayer.

Mayer was detained in December for assault after he had come into a domestic fight. It was released at the beginning of January and, with the help of justice, returns to the world through goals, an organization that is dedicated to the support of people who support the prison system, in particular the detention.

Mayer is one of the many people who benefit from the support of the organization. She was also one of 15 to 20 volunteers gathered on Saturday to support the dismissal of Utahns from the US state of Utah.

“We want to help these people to have a place in society. You have a place in the world, ”said Channae Haller, the founder of justice through goals.

Since Mayer's release, the organization has helped her to get back into society by making her clean clothing available, led her to important dates and helped her again to navigate life.

“There is a purpose for them, there is something to look forward to and they have people around them who help them,” said Mayer on Saturday. “Sometimes it is difficult to look in the mirror and see it, or when you get out for the first time to believe that you can be successful in probation or probation.”

Haller said she was wrongly imprisoned. It served at least two months.

“Unfortunately it was a very eye -opening experience. I saw all imperfections very clearly, ”she said. “I just saw that they often don't have the support. You don't have the navigation; You don't have the resources to set them up for success. “

The organization helps people to navigate court appearances and interviews. If you want to help with donations, clothing or volunteer work, you will find out more here.

Mayer is looking forward to designing a women's clothing line one day.

“I lost this part of myself,” said Mayer. “Hopefully I can try to get it back – I think I can.”
