Paterson Fire twisted 40, destroys 2 buildings

According to Mayor Andre Saygh, firefighters from all over the country County in Paterson reacted to a massive fire in Paterson on Sunday evening, in which 40 people drove out and destroyed two buildings. The fire started around 5 p.m. in a section of the apartment buildings along the Totowa Avenue. Hours later, the crews still treated hot spots. “The fire brigade reacted so quickly,” said Sayigh. “Unfortunately, it could not save these two structures, but they saved this third structure, which is also quite damaged.” Saygh said there would be no injuries. The Red Cross kept some of the victims available. There could be more if the third building also has to come down. “In the next few days, we will monitor the situation, especially the third structure, to see whether it is structurally sound because it could give a possibility that it has to be torn down,” said Saygh. One cause of the fire was not immediately known until Sunday evening. The incident was the city's second big fire in less than a week after the early fire in the early morning in George The Metzger.
