Habersham: Sunday house, forest fires keep the crews of the areas busy

Firefighters from all over Habersham County worked almost continuously on Sunday and reacted to several fires.

Habersham County Emergency Services Stations 9, 17 and 13 responded to a forest/grass fire in the John Wood Road in 1111 in the municipality of Hollywood at 2:04 p.m.

As the winds increased, this fire climbed to about 3.5 acres before they were contained by firefighters, including Habersham County Pinsel 13 and Cornelia Fire Department Pinsel 22 and firefighters with rakes and blower.

Firefighters were able to protect the nearby structure until the Georgia Forestry Commission arrived to plow a break around the fire.

At 2:09 p.m., the fire brigade of Habersham County Emergency Services Station 12 and Baldwin reacted to a registered structural fire in the 3900 block of the Mud Creek Road outside Cornelia.

This fire was stopped shortly before reaching the house.

At 2:25 p.m., the staff was divided into a structural tax on the Baldwin on the County bank's side.

Large flames were visibly reported by the Lake Ridge Trail.

The Departments of Baldwin and Habersham County Sheriff followed the smoke column to find the burning house in Whippoorwill in Banks County.

In addition to the fire brigade of Banks County Fire / Ems and the Baldwin fire brigade, Habersham County Emergency Services Tanker 12 and the Lee Arrendale State Prison Fire Department Fire DefroR team reacted.

At 2:47 p.m., Habersham County Emergency Services units were built in a reported forest/grass fire in the block of the Adenys Chapel Road from 1800 outside of Clarkesville.

The first incoming units found a small fire and quickly deleted it and canceled other responding devices and staff.

At 4:02 p.m., Habersham County Emergency Services, Clarkesville Fire Department and Habersham County Sheriff's Office Personnel were sent to a residential business to GA. 115 compared to Fred Pitt's Road in the Fairview community.

Several callers reported the double -wide house, with several additions on fire at 2930 Highway 115.

“We reacted to a fire for residential buildings and when we arrived here, it was probably about 75% involved, strong smoke that performed from all corners of the building,” said Jeff Parker, head of the emergency servant of Habersham County. “We exhausted our lines to extinguish the fire and we had a little problems with water in this area so that we had to do a water shuttle.”

Since the nearest hydrant was in the Fred Pitts Road in Jim Thomas Road, Tanker 13 and Motor had 12 continuous water shuttles to deliver fire fighting.

“We somehow closed and got water,” said Parker.

No injuries were reported in the house that were destroyed in the fire.

Two dogs were able to escape the fire, and a fireman of Habersham County caught one of them in front of the burning house and brought them to safety.

One person was transported by the HCES medical car from the scene of the fire. 115.

“We had a fireman who was overexposed,” said Parker. “We made him go to Northeast -Georgia (Medical Center) Habersham. No injuries, probably probably dehydration. “

Habersham County Emergency Services Engines 9, 12, 13 and 16 answered together with HCES Tanker 13, Battalion 1, Captain 1 and Pio.

Clarkesville Fire Department Engine 3, Chief Jason Poole and other employees also answered, but let a nearby medical call in the HCES reaction area.

Units from the Habersham County Sheriffs office and the Clarkesville police assisted in traffic control, since a trace of GA. 115 to around 6:30 p.m.

The staff of Habersham Electric Membership Corp. replied to support the securing of the power supply, including lines that crossed the combustion structure.

The crews cleared the scene at 6.45 p.m.

The investigators of the state fires reacted to the scene and the cause of the fire is examined.
