Kitchen fire in Duplex contained on the Sybil Drive Thursday

A kitchen fire on one side of a duplex on the Sybil Drive on Thursday at lunchtime, which prompted the Ruston fire brigade to the scene.

According to the RFD Director of Emergency Medical Services David Wells, the fire started in the kitchen.

“A gap pan that cooked something caught on fire and (RFD) Motor No. 14 was the first in the scene,” said Wells. “There was no fire extension from the House of origin. There was no fire from the original apartment.

“The origin kitchen was warmth and fire damage. The rest of the structure had smoke and heat damage, but it was not spreading to the other apartment or adjacent apartments. “

Wells said that the residents have no injury, but that a pet succumbs to smoking.

“I was told that there was a (dog) who lost his life (from the smoke),” said Wells.

“I think (the residents) are a little panicked when it started. There was a fire extinguisher on site, but they left the house to ensure that the other neighbors know that the house was on fire. “
