Karnataka High Court keeps criminal proceedings against Arnab Goswami.

The Supreme Court of Karnataka has declared that a criminal proceedings against Arnab Goswami, the editor-in-chief of the Republic Media network, allegedly “enmity, hatred or bad will between the classes, by translating a report on rumors” was “one “Classic illustration to just pull it to pay other scores”.

“What was broadcast in the present case [Siddaramaiah] Had to happen and an ambulance had to wait. Even if it is interpreted as true, it is not understandable how the ingredients of section 505 (2) of the Indian Criminal Code are even met to its remote sense, ”the court stated.

Justice M. Nagaprasanna made these observations, while on March 27, 2024 he recorded the first information report (FIR) against Mr. Goswami from Republic Media Network, who operates the Republic Kannada Television Channel.

The FIR was registered on the basis of a complaint by Ravindra MV by the Legal Cell (KPCC) by Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee in Bengaluru. The complaint stated that the channel had broadcast a “wrong” video clip, which had taken up by a person, on a suspected traffic jam on the MG Road in Bengaluru, which affected the movement of an ambulance.

“Ruthlessness permeates during the registration of the complaint,” said the court.

“… just because the petent is a well -known name in the fourth property, he moved into the network of crime without rhyming and reason, just to project the registration of a crime against the petent, which is at first glance. Is ruthless, ”said the court.

An uniform examination, even in this case, would become an abuse of the legal process and lead to a miscarriage of the judiciary, the court said while he was lifting the complaint.
