“No feeling of complacency” for Lindblad after being finished the first day the first day is the fastest to finish on the first day

Arvid Lindblad made an impressive start to life as a Campos racing driver and ended the opening day of Barcelona pre-season tests at the head of the tims numbers.

The 17-year-old, in addition to several other drivers, consolidated a set of soft tires in the late day before completing a 1: 24,415 to record it on P1.

While many tried to exceed his benchmark round, Lindblad's time remained unaffected when Gabriele Minì from Prema Racing was closest, 0.088.

A pleased Lindblad said right after jumping out of his car: “Overall, a fairly decent day. I think I took a step forward by Abu Dhabi. I feel a little more confident and in the car.

“Today has become reasonably good, but there are still a lot of things I have to work on. It is tested, so I can't get a feeling of complacency, so I will work really hard in the next two days to try to maximize learning.

“We have two more test days, so we will really concentrate on trying to put us in a good position for Melbourne.”

Lindblad spoke through the running plan of the day and revealed that he and Campos, while he had tested things on the car, was the main focus of improving his driving.

When asked what he had specifically worked on, the Brit replied: “I think much of it gets used to the F2 car. So drive the car, understand the driving style and how to extract the best of it.

“Then there are all new F2 things, compound changes, the Pitstops and then the warming of the brakes. So only to go up to date on the new F2 tool, but also to work on the basics. “

It was a busy winter for Lindblad who went to New Zealand after completing the Abu Dhabi test after the season and won the regional Oceania Championship.

He admits that this did not leave much time to prepare with Campos, but in their limited connection, the view of the Red Bull Junior Team is already satisfied with the course of things.

“It is going well so far,” he said. “I think we're going to be pretty good, but it's still early. There is much more on this page, only from communication points and fusion.

“We are all pretty new, but we work hard on both sides, so I'm happy and confident.”

The weather played a major role on the first day, with strong fog delaying the beginning of the procedure, although Lindblad says that this did not change its running plan or the route so much.

However, the expected rain on the third day played a role in their decision to burn a number of soft tires late a day. Lindblad looks at the rest of the test and sees both the positive and the negative under the changeable weather conditions.

“We don't get many test days, so I just try to concentrate on doing a good job as possible,” he said. But then there is a little expected rain on Wednesday, so we ended up a soft connection.

“Day three with a high chance of being wet is positive and negative. Obviously, I have the opportunity to drive these tires into the wet, which is a great preparation for the season, but then it is a day less appropriate tests.

“So tomorrow we have to be up to date so that we can get through our running plan and then try to maximize the third day on my side.”
