Historical barn that was destroyed in Jefferson County Fire

A 30 x 40 foot high wooden rod, which was assumed to start until the late 19th century, was completely destroyed in Jefferson County in a fire in the early Sunday morning.

Firefighters reported that the fire on the property Bernard Morris took place in 17,922 East Liberty Road. Morris' son discovered the fire for the first time after it had devoured the barn and arrived as firefighters, the roof collapsed.

The barn and the entire content, to which a tractor, a vehicle from side by side, a lawn mower and several older vehicles, were considered a total loss. Although the cause of the fire has not yet been determined, it is believed that it is an electric nature.

Jefferson Fire called mutual help from Mt. Vernon City, Bluford, Wayne City and Ewing to help combat the fire. Benton and Woodlawn have taken into account the Jefferson Fire Station in the event of additional emergencies.

The fire call came at 12:40 p.m., and the firefighters remained on site until around 3:30 a.m.
