Stewartville man with previous child abuse record is suspended with new charges

Rochester, MN (Kroc -Am News) -Court files indicate that the Stewartville -Man, who started to have broken his little son's leg at the beginning of this month, had two earlier convictions with child abuse.

The 42-year-old Jeffrey Michael Phillips Was charged today in front of the County Court in Olmsted for three crimes that resulted from an investigation by the Sheriff office of Olmsted County. The criminal complaint states that the investigation started on February 6th when the mother of the 7-week child brought the baby to a local medical provider for treatment.

The court document says that she said the Rochester police that she stumbled through a dog and fell down a number of stairs while holding the child. According to the indictment, the mother later contacted the investigators to withdraw her story and stated that the child's father had instructed her.

After the criminal complaint, Phillips admitted that the baby was injured while it dressed in a romper. The court document also says that Phillips informed the investigator that he applied more violence than he wanted because he was angry with the child who was excited when pulling an excitement.

Phillips was charged with crimes for bodily harm third degrees, malicious punishment for a child and domestic assault. After today's court hearing, he was released without a deposit and was convicted of returning for a further hearing next month.

Court files show that Phillips were sentenced to a child for assault and a bad punishment for a child and a rough offense in the domestic charges for domestic attacks in mowing candidates who were associated with two incidents with another child in 2022 and 2023.
