Tri-State school closes for second day due to electrical issues

CINCINNATI (WXIX) – Anderson High School will be closed Tuesday due to electrical issues, the district says.

Forest Hills School District announced in a Facebook post Monday evening that the high school will be closed Feb. 25 due to ongoing electrical issues.

This came after the district canceled classes for Anderson High School on Monday when the issues began.

Reportedly, the problems started after “multiple components of the building’s electrical system were exposed to water.”

“The exposure occurred because a fire sprinkler head burst due to freezing temperatures,” the district says in the Facebook post.

“Multiple pieces of equipment were installed today, and the final major component is expected to be installed tomorrow,” the district said in Monday’s announcement. “After that work is complete, outside electrical contractors will complete the final installation of smaller pieces of equipment. Once all components are installed and additional work is completed, critical final inspections will be able to take place.”

According to the district, those inspections are necessary to supply power to the school.

The district says that all after-school activities are canceled unless alternate plans have been made with a coach or advisor.

Despite the multiple missed days, there are no planned changes to Anderson High School’s academic calendar.

This closure does not affect the rest of the Forest Hills School District schools or schools that rely on Forest Hills bussing.

More information on the repairs will be provided Tuesday, according to the district’s announcement.
