Three years since the beginning of the Russo-Ukrainian war, the former legislator of Nebraska is pushing for peace through strength

Lincoln, alongside (Koln) – Three years ago, the sound of Rolling tanks and falling rockets stole the last hours of sleep from the Ukrainians who lived on the path of Russia's full invasion.

The Ukrainians living in Lincoln gathered on Saturday to remember the dark anniversary for decades.

The former senator of the state of Nebraska, Tom Brewer, said that he had not given up hope, although Ukraine recently left a round of peace talks in Saudi Arabia.

“Ukraine has to be at the table to decide its future,” said Brewer. “You are in a situation in which you have lost about a quarter of your country. They have not only sacrificed military life, but also civil life. It must be a very difficult and bitter situation for you, especially if you have no seat during the discussions about what the final state of the war should look like. “

Brewer has traveled extensively into the country torn by the war, met with military leaders and spread humanitarian aid. He said America cannot afford to move away from Ukraine and its allies.

“We are fighting for freedom,” said Brewer. “And Russia has nothing free. You have a page on which North Korea, Iran and China supported you. And then you have these fragile democracy, which could be an example of the world. “

Brewer went to DC for “Ukraine Week” in early February, where he said he was used for Ukraine for national legislators and military leaders.

“The people of Ukraine were so grateful for the help we gave them,” said Brewer. “They come to you and show their appreciation, give you hugs. We can't just turn your back on you. “

Brewer said that the Russia's economy fluctuates right now and that the expansion of the conflict could bring it to the ropes.

“You can't afford to stay that way,” he said. “Ukraine can be able to support Europe and America.”

Brewer admitted that Ukraine is currently losing ground in parts of the front, but he pointed out the successful idea of Ukraine in the Russian Course Oblast as an example of the country's military effectiveness.

“You would not be able to capture this territory if Russia had the military that does it,” said Brewer.

Brewer said he supported peace, but warned the political decision -makers against imposing peace that reveals the future of Ukraine. He said Ukraine needed serious security guarantees from the USA and Europe.

“We need peace through strength,” said Brewer. “We have a place and responsibility to continue to help Ukraine. It is just what it looks like and will we do it? “

Brewer said the way to relax Ukraine would be long and curvy.

“So much of her agricultural land is full of mines,” he said.

Brewer said that he was working with agricultural managers in Ukraine in the hope of promoting the relationship between the country's agricultural sector. He said he was going back to Ukraine in April.
