“I'm not going to give up justice,” says the father of the Hong Kong girl Chau Tin-Yu

The father of an eight -year -old girl who died after a blood transfusion during an operation in Hong Kong said that he would obtain further details for an investigation of the case after the authorities have decided not to start criminal prosecution.

The promise of Eddie Chau, father of Chau Tin-Yu, came on Tuesday a day after he said on social media that the police had informed him that the Ministry of Justice would not continue with criminal prosecution.

According to a letter that was sent to the father to the father, the department for no reasonable chance of a conviction in court, after evidence, had checked relevant laws and statements.

“I am extremely disappointed with the result, but I will not give up to seek justice for Tin-Yu,” said the girl's father, who died in March last year.

Tin-YU was four when her rhabdomyosarcoma was diagnosed, a rare type of cancer, and chemotherapy and radiation therapy, which shrank the tumor to a size that was suitable for removal.

But during the operation in the Queen Mary Hospital in Pok Fu Lam in May 2020, a blood transfusion was delayed by 48 minutes and her heart stopped for 52 minutes. It appeared from the operating theater in a vegetative state.
