Court hearing on Ruben Vardanyan's criminal proceedings in Baku continues

The lawsuit against Ruben Vardanyan, an Armenian citizen who is charged with torture, mercenary activity, terrorism and violations of war laws, continues in Baku today. Azernews

The last part of the indictment was read out during the previous session.

Vardanyan is accused of several articles from the Azerbaijan Criminal Code, including:

  • 100 (lead an aggression war),
  • 107 (forced expulsion of the population),
  • 109 (persecution),
  • 112 (illegal deprivation of liberty),
  • 113 (torture),
  • 114 (mercenary activity),
  • 115 (violation of laws and falsified warfare),
  • 116 (violations of international humanitarian law),
  • 214 (terrorism),
  • 214-1 (financing terrorism).

In addition, fees include ::

  • 218 (creation of a criminal organization),
  • 228 (illegal possession and transport of weapons and explosives),
  • 270-1 (actions threaten the safety of aviation),
  • 278 (violent confiscation of power and unconstitutional actions),
  • 279 (Creation of illegal armed groups),
  • 318 (illegal border crossing).

The negotiation is expected to continue with a further examination of the case and the evidence submitted by the public prosecutor.
