Dewitt, Fort Smith Northside are presenting new boss football coaches

Two high school football teams announced head coach on Monday evening.

Jason Hathcock posted on his Facebook page that he will lead Dewitt and takes over Tommy Cody.

“I am pleased to be able to tell you that I am now the Dewitt Dragons Cheff football coach,” said Hathcock in the post office. “Taylor Kent Hathcock and I can't wait to move and start this new adventure! Go dragons!”

Hathcock, a native of Glen Rose, comes from Mineral Springs to Arkansa's County, where he led the hornets to a 21:11 record and three playoff appearances in so many seasons. Previously, he was head coach in Lafayette County.

The dragons are fresh from a 7: 4 season, in which they fell on Gentry for the last round in the first round of class 4a playoffs.

About four hours northwest of Dewitt in the River Valley Fort Smith Northside, his coaching search, which was not lacking after the former head coach Felix Curry's new assignment when the school district of former college coach Dom Mirocke approved for the position.

“I am thrilled to start this trip to build this program on and outside the field into a leading winner,” said Mirocke in a press release from the school.

Mirocke was 15 years as a coach of Division I and the Division II college training, including stations with the members of the Great American Conference in the Great American Conference, Henderson State and Arkansas Tech. According to the press release, Mirocke helped the development of 11 All-Conference-Wide recipients and two all-Americans.

“It is humble and exciting to be selected, to conduct such a historical and traditional program, and I am enthusiastic about starting this trip to convert this program into a leading winner on and off the field,” Mirocke drove in the release Fort. “My family and I look forward to being part of the Fort Smith community!”

The grizzlies have only won eight games in the last three seasons.
