Kentucky State Council organizes a successful lobby day in the state of Capitol

The Kentucky State Council recently held a productive lobby day in the state of Capitol in Frankfort, Ky. During the event, IAM members met with representatives and senators from Kentucky in order to discuss important legislative questions and come forward.The top priorities included the facilities for invoices for the prevention of thermal socket and the promotion of the use of materials of American materials in publicly financed projects. IAM members also had the opportunity to meet Jacqueline Coleman, Governor of Kentucky, to discuss the ongoing lawyers' efforts and critical issues with which the employees are confronted.

“By participating in these advocacy efforts, the members gain a clearer understanding of the legislative procedure and the basic efforts that influence the rights of employees,” said Ryan McCarthy, representative of the business representative of IAM District 1888. “It is important to get involved at every level , from national politics to local city councils to real, permanent changes too support financially.”

A remarkable achievement of the event was to secure a co-sponsor for two important invoices. One focuses on creating stronger work standards for young people, while the other can strengthen the children's work laws and ensure safer and fairer working conditions for the youth of Kentucky.

“The IAM is proud of our members who understand the importance of participating in the political process,” said Craig Martin, Vice President of General President Iam Southern Territory. “The laws and guidelines created today will have a direct impact on the future of our jobs, families and communities.”

The lobby day was organized in cooperation with the Kentucky AFL-CIO in order to strengthen the votes of working people and to strengthen the advocacy of employees across the state.
