ESPN's returning production metrics indicate a trend towards success for the FSU foot

The spring camp is just around the corner for the Seminols from Florida State, which means that College Football season 2025 is approaching quickly. The teams all over the country have passed their duties with a fine dentist and crossing their thumbs that they have evaluated their transfer additives and incoming recruits while the returnee is developing.

It is no secret that the Noles had a historically bad 2-10 year year in 2024, which led to the changes of employees and players across the board. On campus there is a new offensive and defensive coordinator on campus alongside a handful of position trainers who can do the ship right, but coaches can only do as much as the players who play the game.

ESPN recently published its return production ranking before the 2025 season, and the FSU is in the right direction in terms of the players who have substituted and players who have adhered to the program.

The Seminols took number 47 (61%) on the list of 136 Football Bowl subdividing programs, whereby their rank was almost doubled into the 2024 (No. 83) season. However, they still returned 58 percent of their production last year.

For comparison, they came to their 2023 ACC championship season with 87 percent, and the majority of these outstanding failures are currently playing in the NFL. This year the competitor Clemson will hold the number 1 and will return 81 percent of their production from 2024.

With regard to the ACC, the return of the FSU is behind the Tigers, Stanford (No. 13), Georgia Tech (No. 26), Pittsburgh (No. 27), NC State (No. 36) and Virginia (No. 46)

The FSU again became difficult in the transfer portal, which flows into the ranking. They brought the quarterback of the Boston College, Thomas Castellanos, to fill the emptiness left by Luke Kromenhoek (transfer) and DJ Uiagalei (NFL), and added a number of large wide recipients and coveted defensive transfers to turn around. They are currently holding No. 7 Transfer Class and No. 18 in the overall class in the country.

“I only give half credit for players who are transferred from lower departments,” wrote Bill Connelly from ESPN. “So if your quarterback leaves and bring you a transfer that was productive elsewhere -Hello, Miami (Carson Beck) and Indiana (Fernando Mendoza) -that dampens the blow of your QB output.”

Now there is a weighted system from top to bottom, based on SNAP counting, receiving shipyards, passing yards and rushing yards. Rushing Yards is only three percent of the score out of the ground. In defense, it is based on returning duels and loss losses. The State of Florida took No. 59 for the return of the defense.

What does that mean? The fans of the US state of Florida were able to see a production area this year, although it is difficult to have a worse record than 2-10. The state of Florida opens the season against Alabama at home on August 30th and should serve as a litmus test for the rest of the coming season.
