Peruvian fresh ginger did not start this year











Fresh Ginger had no good start in January in 2025. Peru exported 2,934 tons of fresh ginger for $ 5.9 million. This is 2% less volume and 26% less value in the same month of 2024. The decline in the average price per kilogram of USD $ 2.68 in 2024 to USD 2.01 in 2025 was a decisive factor for this acceptance.

Peru exported the product to 12 markets in January. The United States was the main market with a share of 71%. Peru sent 1,802 tons worth 4.16 million US dollars to an average price of $ 2.31 per kilogram. Compared to 2024, the volume fell by 16%and the value of 32%, during the average price by 20%.

The Netherlands were the second destination with 17%, 487 tons worth 1 million US dollars and an average price of $ 2.07 per kilogram. Compared to the same month in 2024, exports to this market rose by 66% and 26%.

Canada took 5%, 134 tons worth $ 3048 and an average price of $ 2.28 per kilogram. Compared to 2024, exports to this market fell by 25% and a value of 44%, with the average price being reduced by 25%.
