Sacrifice, Miami Beach leader in favor of receiving the repeat crime “Schatz” plea agreement -WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sport

Miami Beach, Fla. (WSVN) – The news that a repeated sex offender and a criminal from prison should be released is not well sitting with one of his victims and Miami Beach City Commissioners.

Perry Smith, who calls Miami Beach officials, is said to have received a plea deal that does not include a court hearing or a prison period.

Court files show that Smith's case has been officially closed since last week.

The public prosecutor said they offered Smith the deal because he had never touched Jo Manning, one of his victims, did not spent any weapons and some time in prison.

Smith had served time behind bars for his repetition breaks.

Manning describes the plea deal as a “treasure” and said the public prosecutor does not understand its pain.

“I had a problem talking to the public prosecutor. You really didn't understand it, ”she said.

The older victim said that she had to experience the terrible day again when Smith tried to rob her, just a few steps from her house in South Beach in March.

“I'm 84 pounds. I am an older person, ”said Manning. “He could have pushed me onto the floor with these hands, he could have made it out of me.”

She could surely run away in front of him.

And now, a year after her encounter with him, she finds out that he will leave prison.

“So let him go. This was Monday. I had the feeling that if he could pursue me, he can pursue after anyone he thought vulnerable, ”said Manning.

Weeks after his crime against Manning, Smith was also accused of attacking a tourist and CEO of Kempinski Hotels, a luxurious European Hospitality Company, Barbara Muckermann, a lying European Hospitality Company.

“He rammed me into me, as you know? He started saying: “You (Expletive), you (Expletive) and threw me on the floor!” said Muckermann. “I only went in this way, he went in this direction and he just rammed me!”

Smith was arrested because he had attacked Muckermann, but the case was later fallen.

The plea news is also not good with some Miami Beach leaders.

“A repeat offender. Has a rap leaf as long as my arm, ”said Tanya Bhatt, Vice Mayor of Miami Beach.

“This person is a ticking time bomb and has no business on our streets,” said Joe Magazine, Commissioner of Miami Beach City.

The plea agreement in Manning's case inspired the older victim to contact the mayor and the city commissioner.

“God preserve that someone is hit or beaten or attacked again,” said BHATT.

“You will call me again, whether next week, next month or next year to tell me that this person committed something else,” said Magazin.

Manning said she was afraid of what could come on the streets with Smith.

“The prosecutor I spoke to before,” I said, “you will have blood in my hands and I really think that,” she said.

Smith recently appeared in front of the Bond Court when he was released.

The authorities learned about an arrest warrant from 2023 from Georgia, in which Smith, such as Smith was sought for battery, assault, robbery and terrorist threats.

Smith has dispensed with delivery and will be recorded for the time being without binding.

If Smith will not be picked up by the Georgia authorities next month, he may be released from prison.
