Evacuations of the gas leak in the Edwater Village in Biloxi Evacuations

Biloxi, Miss. (WLOX) – A gas leak temporarily led to companies in the EDGewater Village stop operating and evacuating on Tuesday afternoon.

The fire brigade from Biloxi reacted to calls of a gas -like smell at 1:45 p.m. Fire brigade captain Chris Denton says that construction workers accidentally hit an old company from Wendy's on Eisenhower Drive from an old company.

“The way the wind direction went, she blew in front of all these shops and came into her with the heavy smell, so that we simply closed it and all had to evacuate,” said Denton.

Denton says that evacuations were carried out from precautionary measures and the all-clear was administered shortly after 2 p.m.

The Biloxi police also helped block the entrances to the shopping center in incoming traffic.

A similar gas leak only appeared last week before the IHOP at the intersection of Highway 90 and Walmart Lane. On Thursday, BauCrews, which worked on the reconstruction infrastructure in the area.

The leak was repaired shortly afterwards.
