Comments on social media spark of the ethics examination in Navasota's former city manager

Navasota, Texas (KBTX) – An ethics examination was recently initiated in the former city manager Jason Weeks.

The American Association of Municipal Executives (Aame) submitted the official ethics complaint on Saturday. The complaint calls on the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) to take action against Week's measures, which is a member of ICMA.

“The Aame has sent a letter to the ICMA in which he was asked that weeks received public criticism and his name” login information “was freed. “”

The controversy is based on screenshots of comments on the current finalist of the city administrator, which was allegedly made on Facebook from weeks, which were included in the formal complaint submitted by the Aame. The same feelings were shared at the city council meeting, where the residents were concerned about the attitude process of the potential new city administrator.

“I am disappointed with how this setting process was carried out compared to previous selections that prioritized that checking and integrity prioritized,” said a resident.

Joe Turner, CEO of the Aame, said that he believes that the social media handed in by Weeks can influence the city council meeting.

“As a city administrator, we all know that social media is very poisonous and that Facebook can be very harmful,” said Turner. “We carried out many compression campaigns against city administrators across the country through social media, and in this case it was brutal for the candidate.”

KBTX has contacted Jason Weeks's office to get an explanation and is waiting to listen back. In the meantime, a spokesman for the city of Navasota confirmed that the new City Manager finalist was not taken. The city administrator's staff was not informed if the matter is put on a future agenda.
