Archbishop Stepinac High School welcomes AJ Magee as head of the football program and head coach of the Varsity – River Journal Online

Archbishop Stepinac High School announced Alfred (AJ) Magee as the new head of the football program and the Varsity head coach. The appointment of Coach Magee is a return to his roots at Stepinac, where his coaching career began in 2016. Magee takes over Michael O'Donnell, who led the university team for 38 years. He is the seventh football coach in school history.

Magee returns to Stepinac on Wagner College, where he served as assistant to the Seahawks coach on both sides of the ball. At Wagner, Magee was the Co -Coach / Tight -end / offensive quality control and recruitment coordinator for NY. Magee first came to Stepinac as an assistant Junior Versity trainer and quickly demonstrated his commitment and versatility through coaching wide receivers, quarterback and defensive back. In addition, he served as a special team's coordinator, a role in which his strategic knowledge has proven to be invaluable.

In 2018, Magee was promoted to the head of the Junior -Varsity trainer, while he was continued as an assistant quarterback trainer for the Varsity team. This year he played a crucial role in the support of Archbishop Stepinac to conquer the New York State Catholic League Championship and further consolidate his reputation as a talented and motivated trainer.

Magee, graduate of the Manhattanville College 2021, continued to build an impressive curriculum vitae. After his time at Stepinac, he moved to Massachusetts Maritime Academy for the 2022 season, where he held several roles, including coaching linackers and tightness and as a recruitment coordinator of the Buccaneers recruitment. Magee have a diverse ability and a strong understanding of player development, team strategy and the identification of talents.

Magees return to Stepinac has a vision of excellence both on and outside the field. Magee is known for his dynamic trainer style and his ability to connect with players, and is devoted to promoting a program that builds up character, leadership and teamwork.
