Georgia Dream introduces criminal liability for the non-compliance with the registration law for foreign agents-civil floral orgies

Article 355² of the Georgia Criminal Code were introduced to new changes in relation to violations of the law of Georgia “Foreign Agents Registration Act”. According to the proposed changes, “the non -compliance or fulfillment of an obligation defined by the Law of Georgia“ Foreign Agents Registration Act ”is punished with a fine or imprisonment for a term of up to five years. The exact amount of fine has not yet been determined. The law of “Foreign Agents Registration Act” was introduced in the GD Parliament at the beginning of this week.

According to the statement of explanation for the draft law, the introduction of criminal liability is intended to ensure an effective enforcement of the obligations foreign to the registration law foreign agents by introducing “adequate liability” for non -compliance or improper compliance.

The Georgian Dream (GD) party has registered A new legislative initiative entitled the “Foreign Agents Registration Act”, which was presented to the committee for legal matters for examination on February 24th.

The law is an accurate copy of the currently effective US -American Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA), which maintains the same wording, including references to positions such as Congress, the Congress library, the Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Justice, etc. Aleksandre Tabatadze, Head of the legal department of the GD Parliament said: “The state bodies and civil servants who are involved in the law enforcement process that are intended for this law in the United States.”
