Valentine's Day dinner in Sausalito | Blog

The perfect reservation for dinner for Valentine's Day can be difficult enough, even if it is in the Bay area and has thousands of great restaurants on your fingertips. When my friend visited me for the holiday weekend, we wanted to get somewhere that evening and enjoy dinner. After some search, we finally landed on the trident, a classic seafood stain on the sea -S excess.

Sausalito is a picturesque city in Marin directly opposite the Golden Gate Bridge on the way to San Francisco. I had been in Marin a few times before and had enforced Sausalito, but never explored the delightful shops in the city itself. Above the scenic beach stretching, the houses are located in a lavish, green hill with a view of the sparkling skyline of San Francisco.

What I loved the most about Sausalito was the promenade that stretches over the bay, and beautiful restaurants on stilts that look directly into the water on both sides. The trident called us for dinner because of its retro decor and the perfect view of the moonlight, which is reflected by the water.

On my arrival we were greeted with the unique wooden architectural style of the restaurant. A safe sales argument for me. The atmosphere of the restaurant was completely with prospective tropical plants and groovy opaque designs and really sold the restaurant as perfectly inspired. There was also an outdoor deck with seating, but we decided that it could be too cold in February to sit there. The coolest part was the cyclical design of the place, with large oval arches around the huge windows to the coast and private stalls circled, which were locked in a called wooden back. The whole design was very thoughtful and an essential part of the restaurant.

I learned that the history of the trident went back to the 1960s and explained the strong emphasis on Groovy, 60s-inspired decor, which was up to date over time. During this time, the trident was a meeting point for free thinkers and creative people, with some famous people regularly visited the restaurant, including Janis Joplin, Bill Cosby and Joan Baetz. The trident was also seen in “Play It Again Sam”, a classic Woody Allen film from 1971.

The menu offers an irresistible series of funny cocktails, starters, fresh seafood and hearty starters. Between us we dug into a juicy pork chop with creamy potato puree and an Ahi tuna salad. We always had a sweet tooth and could not hand over the opportunity for a red velvet mini -bundle cake with the best cream cheese sugar effusion, for which it should absolutely die. The portions were generous and each dish was a masterpiece packed with a taste. In order to round off the whole thing, the staff could not have been friendlier, which makes the entire experience special from start to finish.

After a great meal, bellies are full and went back to the short beach to get the car together. We watched the moonlight shimmer over the huge dark water. The calm little city was already sleeping for the night.

Sausalito was a great destination for an evening and was still near Berkeley, but also far enough to flee for a few hours. The picturesque atmosphere of the city as well as the large selection of food and shops ensure a great area to walk aimlessly and choose what suits you. Our dinner in the Trident was a great time, from the ambience to excellent food, and I can no longer recommend this experience for an evening.
