The puppy mountain becomes a tourist destination after a viral photo

A mountain that is shaped like a puppy causes a sensation on social media after a visitor has published a photo of the striking Chinese landmark.

Guo Qingshan took the photo of the mountain – which resembles the head and snout of a dog from a distance – and visited his hometown Yichang in Central China at the end of January, reported the Associated Press.

The designer based in Shanghai only noticed the strange shape of the mountain after collecting the picture. On Valentine's Day you posted the photo in the Chinese social media app Rednote and labeled it “Puppy Mountain”. Post received a viral reaction from supporters per ap.

“It was so magical and sweet. I was so excited and happy when I discovered it,” Qingshan said to the outlet. “The attitude of the puppy is as if it were drinking water or it looks at some fish. It also looks like it is tacitly protecting the Yangtse.”

“Puppy Mountain” is located on Yangtse River in Yichangs Zigui County in the Central Chinese province of Hubei. AP reported that tourists can get a good view of the dog -shaped mountain from an observation deck.

Qingshan's contribution collected 120,000 likes in just ten days when the discussion about the image spread online.

The viral photo prompted dog owners to publish pictures of the faces of their dogs to compare them with the mountain side. Users also posted photos from the time when they previously visited the landmark. According to AP, Qingshans Viral Post also inspired new tourists to visit the mountain.

The local Yang Yang was one of the tourists who traveled from her house to the delightful goal for the first time after seeing Qingshan photo.

“I was really happy to see the mountain,” she said to AP. “I always travel with my dog, if possible, so the Puppy Mountain and my own little dog really fit together.”

Like Qingshan, the Shi Tong, who lived in Yichang, thought the mountain looked like a puppy when he visited in 2021.

“After seeing the puppy mountain photo online, I tried to look at where it is. And then I realized that I had been to this place before,” he told AP. “I thought it also looked like a dog at the time!”
