Alcohol found in Chicago Fire Station on the south side, which leads to an investigation

The Chicago fire brigade has initiated an internal examination after alcohol was discovered in a fire house in the south side.

What we know:

The incident occurred last week after the general inspector Chicago's office received a tip.

One of the first things to be taught at the Fire Academy is that there is no drink in the workplace for obvious reasons and no alcohol is allowed on the fire brigade's premises. For this reason, the department takes the examination seriously.

The fight against fires is already dangerous, and for security reasons there is a strict ban on alcohol in fire houses.

Last Friday, the investigators for internal matters who acted on a tip from the general inspector's office discovered during a surprise visit to Motor Company 47 in the neighborhood of Woodlawn alcohol.

Fox 32 learned that alcohol, which belonged to beer and schnapps, was found in a closed storage area in the fire house.

Sources said that all the services of the fire brigade agent were carried out at this time alcohol test and all were passed in their systems without alcohol.

No fees were submitted, but the examination of the internal affairs has not yet been completed because the investigators try to determine who had access to the warehouse area and who brought the alcohol into the building.

What you say:

“CFD is currently investigating alleged violations. CFD cannot comment on the examination because it is open and pending. The proper willingness of our members and compliance with all rules and regulations has a top priority in Chicago,” said CFD a spokesman.

“I am shocked and disappointed,” said 20th Alderman Jeanette Taylor. “These are the people we depend on to save our lives.”

Taylor, whose community comprises the fire station, said that she had learned about alcohol discovery shortly after Friday.

“You have done an oath to ensure that you can react and save lives. I don't know if that could happen if you are under influence. You can certainly not drive drunk, right? And so we shouldn't fight fire under the influence,” added Taylor.

What's next:

An experienced fireman tells Fox 32, one of the first things that recruits learn at the Chicago Fire Academy is that there is no drinking in the job, and alcohol is banned in the fire brigade.

Patrick Cleary, President of Chicago Firefighter's Union, said that he heard rumors about the alleged confiscation on Friday, but because no indictment had been submitted, he would wait until the investigation has been completed before making comments.
