State presented the latest in the Cadillac Area Pfas examination – 9 & 10 messages

Cadillac learned further information on Wednesday about the study of the state in Pfas in the industrial park.

Michigan Pfas Action Response Team or MPart organized two virtual sessions on Wednesday, both with personal advertising options.

The purpose of the meetings was to bring people up to date, which they have discovered so far since Pfas have been discovered in private fountains in recent months.

Marcus Peccia, Manager of Cadillac City, said he thinks the state did a good job and explained the latest information

“I think MPart did a good job today because they shared the data, they were transparent with it. Many people are really worried about whether they get it from their own private wells or whether they get it by visiting restaurants or other places in and around our area, ”said Peccia.

The state also played the role that MPart plays, the factors for starting an investigation and the process.

“So far you have tried 70 private fountains in the Cadillac Industrial Park area. 12 of them lie above the current criteria. 44 of them had identification levels that are below the criteria. And 14 were not built, ”said Peccia.

The state also received 11 other self -patterns, all of which were tested among the tested tests.

MPART said the data indicates that there is no smoking weapon in relation to a primary source for the PFAS contamination, but probably came from several sources in the region.

“They also met that a very likely guilty sewage pitch or sewage pitches, drainage fields that have people, as well as sewage pits for larger contributors could be. Not -residential uses that are also septic could also contribute to this, ”said Peccia.

Peccia said that the composition of our soil made it more difficult to determine the source.

“You have always talked about how the floor here is mainly sand. And no matter what it is, contaminants and other things have moved quickly. It is difficult for them to say where it comes from, ”said Peccia.

The state also gave updates to the investigations of the USA 131 & Mackinaw Trail and the Wexford Missaukee Career Technical Center, where Pfas were recently found on uncertain levels.

MPart also provided general information on PFAs, effects on exposure, information about filters and tests and other help for people if they have any questions.

Peccia said the city also trying to combine people with resources.

“We were also successful and coordinated with the local United Way. You have now updated your 211-dial-in system. So if someone has questions or concerns, you can simply connect two, one, one, and he will connect them with the PFAS expert in the area through the health department, ”said Peccia.
