Salt Lake City – Four people were treated for smoke inhalation after a fire broke out on Wednesday in a Salt Lake City skyscraper on Wednesday.

Brandt Hancuff, Captain by Salt Lake City, said that his agency had received several calls for smoke in a residential building in 245 S. Street in Salt Lake City.

Why e-bike batteries catch fire

Most e-bikes are driven by lithium-ion batteries that can catch or explode if they are damaged. Change a lithium-ion battery or the purchase of a fake can also lead to security problems.

Since 2022, at least five fires have been started in Utah with a faulty lithium-ion battery. In two cases, the batteries have powered e-bikes. The other hoverboards, e-scooters and e-skateboards.

A lithium-ion battery overloaded is possible and can lead to a malfunction or fire. According to the National Fire Protection Association, physical or electrical damage, exposure to extreme temperatures and product errors can lead to lithium-ion batteries.

The NFPA also warned the e-bike users that incorrect chargers, improper loading practices and overloaded electrical circuits can also lead to lithium-ion battery lords.
