Samuels, 800 Free Relay Team set records to open big ten

Minneapolis – led by Brady Samuels' The fastest 200 freestyle time in the program history, Purdue Herren's Swimming & Diving, set up two team records on the 800 Free Relay on the opening night of the big ten championships.

Samuels has teamed up with three newcomers – Walker MatticePresent Blake Rowe And Evan Mackesy -Um to publish a team record time of 6: 21.94, in the Ecliping of a benchmark, which has been standing by 2.69 seconds since 2021.

Samuel claimed his third single team record with a leadoff leg divided by 1: 32.52, which defeated the record of the former relay colleague Nick Sherman (1: 33.74), who has stood since the NCAA championships in 2023. The time of Samuels was the third fastest leadoff leg, which was divided under the eight team field on Wednesday.

Samuels also owns Purdue Records in the 100 -backstroke and 100 butterfly and lowers his benchmark in the 100 fly, while he won the Toyota Us Open Gold in December. As a newcomer in 2022, he helped Purdue at the 400 Free Relay at the Big Ten and NCAA championships. This brand is still standing.

For the third time in six seasons, the boiler makers on the opening night of Big Ten put their team record in the 800 Free Relay in the shade.

Samuels also helped Purdues 200 Medley Relay team from Purdue to publish a top 10 time in the team history on Wednesday in the first event of the championships. He got together Idris Muhammad (back), Raymond Whittaker (Breast) and Nathaniel Thomas (free) for a time of 1: 25.20.

The Big Ten championships will continue on Thursday in the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center in Minnesota with floating preliminary rounds at 11 a.m., the prelims at 1 p.m. and the final at 6 p.m. ET.
