According to IRS, the contractor leaked 400,000 tax returns, almost six times more reported than before

An IRS contractor who leaked private tax payer data seems to have stolen far more data than before.

According to Politico, the incumbent Irs Commissioner Doug O'Donnell recently sent a letter to the judicial chairman of House, Jim Jordan (R-OHIO), about Jordan that the agency 405,427 contacted taxpayers regarding the stolen data. Last year, however, the IRS reported that it would be around 70,000 taxpayers via the stolen data.

The data was stolen and leaked by Charles Littlejohn, a former government contractor. In the letter, O'Donnell said that about nine out of 10 contacted taxpayers were actually companies. He continued that there are a small number of taxpayers who still need to be contacted.
