An IRS contractor who leaked private tax payer data seems to have stolen far more data than before.

According to Politico, the incumbent Irs Commissioner Doug O'Donnell recently sent a letter to the judicial chairman of House, Jim Jordan (R-OHIO), about Jordan that the agency 405,427 contacted taxpayers regarding the stolen data. Last year, however, the IRS reported that it would be around 70,000 taxpayers via the stolen data.

The data was stolen and leaked by Charles Littlejohn, a former government contractor. Littlejohn Stahl Stahl in 2019 the tax information of a high -ranking government official before steel the information of thousands of wealthy taxpayers a year later. Littlejohn was sentenced and convicted of five years in prison last year.

President Donald Trump was one of those whose tax information was leaked. The stolen information was used in A New York Times History about Trump's tax returns.

In the letter, O'Donnell said that about nine out of 10 contacted taxpayers were actually companies. He continued that there are a small number of taxpayers who still need to be contacted.
