The egg prices continue to rise while the bird flu farmers are forcing to slaughter herds, the Associated Press reported.

To avoid higher prices, some consumers decide to raise their own chickens at home.

  • Tiffany Hunt, who has High Rock Chicks, started to raise chickens almost 10 years ago, and hugged the homestead
  • She says that the egg prices have increased, call more people to buy slippery eggs and chicks

Tiffany Hunt, a homesteader who has raised chickens for almost 10 years, said beginners should first inform how many chickens their family need to create a dozen eggs.

“The rule of thumb is two chickens per person in your household. So if you are a family of four, start with eight chickens,” she said.

According to a study published by the National Library of Medicine, around 13% of Americans have backyard chickens.

Hunt said people contacted them every day to buy chicks and slip eggs and advice.

“I just got three calls for people who want chickens today, but yes, I definitely have a lot more people,” said Hunt.

According to AP, egg prices achieved a record high of $ 4.95 in January in January.

It also reported that the US Agriculture Ministry predicted that the prices for eggs will increase by 41% this year due to a lack caused by bird flu.
