The Ovac Rudy Mumley All-Star soccer game ended last summer in its 78-year history. That won't happen again.

As a result of the 13-13 deadlock at the end of July in the Wheeling Island Stadium between Ohio and West Virginia, members of the Ovac Executive Committee heard a turmoil of players, coaches and fans, equally, the mid-loved one on the field.

At a recent session of the OVAC Executive Committee, a proposal of the All -Star football committee unanimously approved to introduce an overtime meeting similar to that of College football. However, there will be no down-and-distance of how to start the NCAA system. After a coin talent, it will exist to determine the order in which the teams would try to play every team from the 3-Yard line.

“The OVAC Executive Board has approved our request to add overtime to the All-Star game. The student athletes have put a lot of work into this game and want the opportunity to win, ”Corey Murphy. “After the game of last year, we saw the passion of the players. Sam Jones and I then knew that we had to use this to make the Rudy Mumley Classic even better. We look forward to this year's game. “

“The teams will deviate the games of the 3-yard line until we have decided a winner,” said Sam Jones, Commissioner of Ovac football.

Dirk Decoy, Executive Director of Ovac, said the change had come after a few serious thoughts.

“It's about what the children want and the children want to overcome,” he said. “We had the only draw in the history of the game last year and therefore it came about. There will now be a decisive factor.

“It could take up to two games, or it could take up to five or six excesses. We will go as long as it takes to decide a winner. I'm looking forward to it, ”added Decoy.

“The children want a winner. This is a big game. I have always said that this game is played once a year, but it is kept living for it again and again. “

Some critics will say: “There is always the possibility that a player will be injured in a meaningless game.”

“You can look at it in two ways. Administratively yes, it's a charity football game, ”noted Decoy. There is always concern that another game could hurt someone, but we hope that this does not happen. “

The change of rule will come into force this summer during the 79th edition of the game when the local coaching teams of Cameron and Union will lead their respective state.
