“Jackson Merrill has a lot of power”

The Outfield Jackson Merrill has had a great rookie season with the San Diego Padres, and teammate Luis Araez has revealed what tips he gave the youngster.

In his first season in the majors, the 21-year-old Outfield played 156 games and performed some impressive performances in the playoffs. As a senior player in the team, Arraez opened the advice that he shared Merrill in her first year:

“You try to hit the ball in the other direction, and then I say, hey, if you try to hit the ball in the other direction, you will get three hits every day because you stay in the ball. Especially Jackson Merrill, he has a lot of strength. I say, find the barrel easy and try to hit the ball in the middle of the field.

“If you have this strength, I did all the way every time. I mean, I still do it, but not with this strength.

Jackson Merrill was selected by the San Diego Padres in the draft of 2021 MLB and made his debut in the Major League with them in March last year. He grew to one of her best performers and recorded an average of 0.292 with 24 home runs and 90 RBI for the season.

Luis Arraez is an established star and three -time hit master, who also came to the Padres last year. He grew to a guide in the clubhouse, shared his experiences with younger players and helped them get better.

Merrill was one of these players who recently unveiled Arraez in the “Ben & Woods” podcast and spoke highly about the qualities of the youngster.

Jackson Merrill explains his decision to see every spring training game until the end

Only days after the spring training session, Jackson Merrill has already shown that his way of thinking distinguishes him from other players. During her first two games, the San Diego Padres outfield started both games and decided to cheer his team until the end while others went to the clubhouse.

When asked why he decided this, he replied:

“These boys are my team. These boys are my boys … obviously for Manny and Bogey and these boys who are (ok). They are veterans. You deserve it. I have a year under my belt. I don't have this respect yet. “

It is common for the starters to retire after they have been pulled out of a spring training game, but Merrill believes that he has not yet deserved it properly. Although he had started both games, he decided to support the Minor League player to the end.
