Speak to the Pa news agency On Wednesday, Wexford City Councilor Ger Carthy said that the locals reacted in the news with “shock and sadness”.

“I think the reaction here was a shock and indeed sadness about what on board the Stena Nordica on the way to the Rosslare port here and the tragic events that developed on the way to the port of Roslare,” he said.

“What was brought out here last night and the reaction of the Gardai and the state agencies was unsurpassed. There was a great presence of special units and indeed the national ambulance and a large number of vehicles on site. “
