Hastings, Nebraska, Brian next to, central -Nebraska today

Hastings – The starting time for Hasting's city council meetings and working sessions will soon move to 6 p.m.

The new start time, which comes into force at the regular council meeting on March 10, is 30 minutes later than the previous starting time.

The council members voted 8-0 for the approval of Resolution No. 2025-05 during their session on February 10, which approved the change.

Mayor Jay Beckby presented the point during the council meeting on February 10th and said that the start time of the meeting was a request from the public.

“As a campaign promise, I did this that I wanted to make city council meetings more accessible to people who came from work around 5,” he said. “We came up with 6 a.m.”

Council President Steve Huntley said that the start of the council meetings at 6 p.m. wants to clean up more time for the meeting to the residents who work outside the city or who want to clean up after work.

The implementation of the later meeting time is not long after a work seat on Saturday morning. The city council of Hastings, which takes the place of the annual withdrawal of the council, is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 1st in the Hastings Public Library, 314 N. Denver Ave.

The agenda contains the following discussion elements:
1. Needs of the city
2. Discussion topics
Public security
Public service
Public amenities
3. Council targets
4. Budget
5. Summary
