The Czech athlete Ester Lecká, the only Olympian who has won skiing and snowboarding in various disciplines, alpine, is forced to choose between their two disciplines at the 2026 Winter Olympics after the officials had not adapted to the schedule. On February 8, Lecká will compete at two events that are almost at the same time and will be targeting for hours in various Italian mountain cities -the women's deduction in Cortina d'Ampezzo at 11:30 a.m. and the parallel giant -Snowboard -Event in Livigno, with qualifications from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 1 a.m. at 1 a.m. and 1 a.m. 1 a.m. at 1 a.m.

With a four -hour journey between the event locations, it is logistically impossible to advertise Legels with a difficult decision: try to defend your snowboarding title and to decide a historical three -time Olympic championship or to follow a medal in the Olympic departure, the royal discipline in Alpine Ski.

The 29-year-old Lecká, who amazed the world in 2018, when she became the first athlete to win Olympic gold in the alpine skiing and snowboarding, and won a shock victory in the Super-G before winning the snowboard event of the parallel Giant Slalom a week later. She defended her snowboard title in Beijing 2022, while she also took part in alpine events and took fifth and fourth place in the combination in Super-G.

Despite her unsurpassed skills in both disciplines, the 2026 Olympic schedule presents an unprecedented conflict. The Czech star had hoped for an adaptation that was made to change the schedule for athletes such as Allyson Felix and Michael Johnson for athletics athletes as in the past through their national Olympic committee. However, no changes were made, which means that it has to do without one of its signature events.

At the moment Lecká seems to prefer snowboarding where she dominated in 63 starts with 25 World Cup victories. A victory in Livigno would make her the first woman who won three consecutive Olympic gold men in the discipline. In addition, by choosing snowboarding, she would still have the chance to apply at the Skiings Super-G Super-G a few days later. On the other hand, the Olympic departure is a career-defining event in alpine skiing, and Lecká has proven that it can win on the largest stage with four World Cup victories and 11 podiums in 88 career ski starts. Downhill is certainly her strongest discipline. While she is bound with two World Cup victories in departure and two victories in Super-G, seven of her eleven podium down and only three in Super-G, while one was combined in Alpine. In addition, Lecká won bronze at the recent world championships at the recent World Championships in Saalbach, Austria.

Regardless of which event she chooses, Lecká's unique career has already consolidated her place in Olympic history as a double discipline champion. However, the planning conflict means that one of the largest all-round winter sports enthusiasts will not be able to present the entire extent of their abilities on the largest stage in the world.
