South Street closure date for red has amphitheater relocation :: wral.com

Raleigh residents now know when part of the city center is closed for the expansion of the Raleigh Convention Center.

According to the city, the South Street is closed between the Dawson Street and the McDowell Street on Monday, April 14th.

The road is closed permanently while the city is expanding the congress center. The project approved in 2023 will add more than 80,000 square foot to the congress center.

The project will also bring the Omni Hotel to the city center, a 55,000 square meter hotel that is expected to have 550 guest rooms. As part of the expansion of the hotel development and congress center, Red Hat will move a block from its current location in South Street to the south.

The relocation of Red Hat Amphitheater is expected to begin this year when the concert season is over, while the expansion of the congress center begins in 2026.

The entire project is expected to be completed in 2028
