Stock weapon with Thomas Williams Elementary; Examination in progress

A firearm was discovered on Thursday afternoon on the campus of Thomas Williams Elementary School near Lake Mead Boulevard and North Pecos Road.

No injuries were reported in connection with the incident.

The director Carrie Realebeck addressed the situation in a letter to parents and legal guardians. “As a headmaster, it is my top priority to ensure that your child is safe at school and that you keep up to date with important matters in our school community,” she said.

Rekbeck said that the school administrators confiscated the firearm from a student on campus and immediately reported the incident to the police of Clark County School District. “Although we cannot discuss individual student matters, all CCSD guidelines and procedures are followed and adequate measures are taken,” she said.

Please take this opportunity to discuss the school's security with your student. If you are ever exposed to a situation in which you are not sure whether you should share information to an adult or not, please remind you that you never hesitate to report something that is a security problem.
