Picture of the kidnapper in the Marin County School video is apologizing

Officials from the TamalpaiS Union High School apologized after a school video contained a “disturbing” image of an armed kidnapper who was connected to a well -known group of terrorists, Superintendent Tara Taupier said this week in a letter to families.

The video that was part of the “Stop and Learn” series of the school to strengthen LGBTQ+ stoxes contained the film material from someone who carries a T -shirt, the Leila Khaled with the words “Resistance is no terrorism” with the holding of a rifle with the words “resistance” that showed with a T -shirt.

Khaled is known for the kidnapping of an aircraft in 1969 as part of the popular front for the liberation of Palestine. The group is shown by the United States and the European Union together with other countries as a terrorist organization. The famous picture of Khaled was widespread after the kidnapping of a Twa flight from Rome to Tel Aviv.

Taupier said that the inclusion of the picture in the video was particularly worrying, “because of his connection to violence and terrorism against the Jewish people”.

“We apologize for pain that caused this,” wrote Taupier. “This supervision does not reflect the values of inclusiveness, respect and sensitivity that we are obliged to maintain.”

Taupier said that the focus of the video was intended to support LGBTQ+ students and to promote understanding, but that the image of Khaled “may have impaired this important message and caused unintentional damage”.

The Marin Independent Journal reported that several parents were concerned and annoyed by the photo, with some answers looking for whether the video was checked by someone in the district before they were shown to the students.

“We take full responsibility for this oversight and companies instant measures to ensure that such incidents will not take place in the future,” wrote Taupier.
