1 dead, officer in a stable state after Maricopa shooting

Phoenix – A suspicious died and an official of the Maricopa Police Department was injured at a shootout on Thursday afternoon.

The officer, who was shot, was brought to a Valley hospital and is in a stable state, said the Sheriff's office in Pinal County in a statement on Thursday evening.

The shootout occurred at the intersection of Bowlin Road and John Wayne Parkway.

According to the Maricopa police, there is no threat to the area.

The Sheriff's office in Pinal County is currently examining.

The sole suspect, who died, a 35-40-year-old man, had recently been released from the Department of Corrections, the authorities said.

All officials involved in the shootout were put in administrative leave.
