Jepchirchir breaks the school record, wins silver on the first day of SEC – Auburn Tigers

Bryan-College Station, Texas-The Auburn newcomer Brenda Jepchirchir broke on the first day of the indoor light athletics championships of the Southeasters Conference on Thursday in Faskens Indoor Athletics. -M -final of men after organizing two of the five best Prelim Times.

Jepchirchir comes from Iten, Kenya, ran a strong race and drove at a time of 15: 33.37 to take second place in the 5 -km women. The best performance of an Au -newcomer in the Sec -Indoor since Joyce Kimeli became second as a rookie in 2019. Jepchirchir and the LSU newcomer Edna Chepkemoi ran together in the second and third positions at the beginning of the race, before Jepchirchir pulled back at 3800 m and defeated with a six-second pillow with a six second pillow over Edna. Charamba, who was appointed SEC runner of the week two weeks ago after broken Auburn's 25-year-old school record in the event, ran 20.32 and recorded the second fastest time in the program history and the third fastest in preparations. Matau set a new personal best and crossed the tape in 20.60, the fifth of the fastest among all competitors. The Times from Charamba and Matau were two of the six fastest 200m history.

The duo will drive in the final on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. CT. It is the first time since 2012 that Auburn is represented two men in the 200m final.

Sophomore Shonedra Richardson, who took part in her first indoor meeting of the conference, was 22. In the long jump of women with a brand of 5.77 m/18-11.25, her second best distance of the season.

The second day of the SEC indoor championships will be resumed on Friday at 11 a.m. with the men's weight throw, while the action on the route begins at 4 p.m. The Tigers will have 21 athletes in 11 events. The campaign on Friday is broadcast in the Sec Network+Live Streaming.
