Fire destroys historical property in the peninsula and the upcoming Eddy's bicycle shop

Peninsula, Ohio – a bicycle shop and a historic building in the peninsula were destroyed after flames were torn through the property overnight.

Shortly before 1 a.m. Friday, firefighting teams in Eddy's bicycle shop were called along Main Street. Flames and smoke shot into the sky when the fire had completely devoured the property.

The crews of several departments worked for hours to control it. A large part of the Main Street remains closed because the crews work to secure the scene. Fortunately, nobody was injured or killed.

This is a historical property that is used by cyclists per season. According to the Peninsula Foundation, it was originally built in 1893 and many known as Millie's Inn. It survived the great flood of 1913.

It was also known as Scotty's Bar – owned by Scotty Innerton. He was the only professional baseball player from Peninsula.

Before it was Eddy's War-Es, the cycles of centuries for several years. The bicycle shop was a hot spot for tourists and outdoor enthusiasts. According to a Facebook post by Eddy's renovation work, Eddy's Bike Shop was renovated before the 2025 rental season.
