In the middle of the nationwide decline in the test results, the performance of OCS contradicts the trend

Submitted by Orcas Christian School.

When students from Orcas Christian School complete their measures for academic progress tests, the school reports a strong performance of the students. MAP is a standardized assessment that evaluates the knowledge of a student in reading, language and mathematics. Schools use the test to help educators determine the strengths and areas of the students in order to lead effective teaching planning.

According to OCS, students of the basic and mid-range have shown promising results. 70% of OCS students are currently meeting in reading the 50th percentile at the national level, while 66% achieve the same scale in mathematics. The school also found that these results include students with individual educational programs.

“Covid really burdened the learning of the students. I am pleased to see that our students have overcome great teachers and hard work, and I couldn't be proud of them, ”said OCS director Terry Pottle. “Since the test results in the state continue to decrease, I am encouraged to see how our opposite oppose the trend.”
