No signs of a forced entry or a carbon monoxide leak in gene hackman's death: npr

Officials have not announced the causes of death for the actor Gene Hackman and his wife Betsy Arakawa – but an affidavit states that the deaths are “suspicious enough” to justify further investigations.

A maintenance worker had arrived at the couple in Santa Fe, NM on Wednesday afternoon and found that the front door was open. The worker then discovered the couple's bodies, said the affidavit.

The 95 -year -old Hackman was found in a mutroom with sunglasses near his body, according to the affidavit, in which a representative of Santa Fe County Patrol, who came to the scene, quoted and believes that the actor suddenly fell.

Arakawa was found in a bathroom near the front door, where room heating was found near her head, said the affidavit. A prescription bottle was also found on the worktop, with pills being scattered on the surface. The heating could have fallen after it fell, said the same MP.

A German shepherd was also found dead about 10 to 15 feet of Arakawa's body in a cupboard in the bathroom, while two other healthy dogs were on the property when the maintenance worker arrived. One was near Arakawa, while the other was outside after the affidavit.

There are no signs of a carbon monoxide leak, problems with the pipes, forced admission or a blunt force trauma, according to the affidavit, and there are no signs that any things have been kept.

Two maintenance workers said that according to an affidavit, they last had contact with the couple about two weeks ago. They said they had rarely seen Hackman and Arakawa in their work, but communicated with them about texts and calls.
