Here is a Yankees story from the AP:

Tampa, Florida (AP) – The Yankees will only play Frank Sinatra's version of the “Topic from New York, New York” instead of winning at home instead of all the games in the Bronx, who returns to the original set of owner George Steinbrenner in 1980.

The Yankees said that players and employees were tired of hearing a solemn song after defeats.

After the 4-0 spring loss on Sunday against Detroit in George M. Steinbrenner Field, the Yankees Sinatra's 1966 recording of “That's Life”, a song from 1963 by Dean Kay and Kelly Gordon. The change occurred two days after the team ended the barbell equipped by Steinbrenner in 1976.

The team said various songs are used after losses.

“New York, New York” was played at the end of Yankees victories after Steinbrenner from Sinatra's version of a Disc Jockey in the Le Club, a restaurant in Manhattan and Disco, said the former director of Team media relationships, Marty Appel, the New York Times in 2015.

The song with music by John Kander and texts by Fred Ebb was first sung by Liza Minnelli for the Martin Scorsese film “New York, New York” from 1977, and Sinatra played it in a Don Costa arrangement for his recording from 1980 “Trilogy: Past Present Future”.

For a few years, the Yankees changed the Sinatra version after the victories and the Minnelli version after defeats. In recent years, Sinatra has been played after all the last outs.

The Yankees said on Friday that they ended their beard ban and feared that the ban could hinder the recruitment of the players.

Hal Steinbrenner took over in 2008 as a controlling owner of his father, who died in 2010.
