Brand of the Hatch Street in mystical injuries, destroys the house, says Chief

Mystic – A man was injured when he tried to lay out a house fire that took the crews seven hours to completely extinguish, said the fire chief on Friday.

The House of the Hatch Street was destroyed, said Chris Chris Clarkin.

It took three hours to drop the flames, said Clarkin. Photos show the fire at all levels of the house, some of which have collapsed.

The fire was reported shortly before 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, he said. The Stonington police officers arrived first and found a resident who tried to extinguish the fire. They told him that he should get out and he did it, said the boss. The man was taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries.

Firefighters climbed out of the house and fought against the flames from outside due to hydrangea, and that caused some problems, said Clarkin. They used two ladder cars to rain water on the house and into the windows.

Although the fire was put down at 8:30 p.m., the firefighters continued to find smoldering hotspots in the ruins, said Clarkin and was still at the scene on Friday at 12:30 p.m., he said.

During the fire, electrical cables were cut, which led to a loss of electricity in the neighborhood, said Clarkin. In addition, firefighters used so much water that some sprinkleral arms activated in the area.

Firefighters of the Old Mystic Fire Department, Ledyard Fire Co., the fire brigade of Poquonnock Bridge in Groton and the U -boat base in Groton, helped fight fire. There were a total of 10 trucks and about 50 firefighters on site, he said.

This is a developing story and is updated when further information is available.
