6 tips to get your children on the mountain

Start small (really small)

Keep your expectations low for the first trips. Be satisfied with making you a short slope in all your winter clothing, helmets, safety glasses, boots and skis or snowboards and one or two travel or two while you run next to or behind them. Leave your own skis or boards for the first trips at home. Use gentle slopes or rabbits to give you time to familiarize yourself with the new environment and the new equipment.

Have fun

Armed with the knowledge that your children do not take long on skis or boards (with 10 minutes of bursts) on the first trips, plan to integrate fun and age -appropriate games into your day and to keep them as much winter equipment as possible. Think of Snowman Building, ride the gondola up and down (if you are in a resort), schnitzel hunts or just simple natural walks and explorations.

Praise your efforts

Children love positive reinforcements – It is science! A victory is a victory – celebrate the big and little ones on their trip. Make sure that your children feel safe and supported at any time.

Prioritize your pace and listen to your hints

Just like a trip to the grocery store, you can go south if your child is hungry or tired, Pay attention to your energy and hunger levels. Let them eat a large, balanced breakfast (I see them, parents of keyless eaters) and Pocket snacks or a bag. Keep them hydrated, plan nap and offer many breaks.

Consider a professional lesson

As I said, it is nothing weaker when they teach their children to ski or snowboard. There were many times that I had to apologize politely to scream a tree. It can be frustrating and overwhelming for parents and children. The attitude of a qualified instructor can be a great advantage for the general learning of the child and give the parents a (urgently needed) break.

If you are lucky enough to live or visit BC, we were completely overwhelmed by the Lessons of the children's snow school at Whistler Blackcomb. Our three-year-old is inscribed in the Weekly Kids Club program, which represents an incredible price-performance ratio-is cheaper than a babysitter and you learn a new ability and are fed. The measure of care, experience and patience is unsurpassed. Anyone who can put four or five small children on the skis is a real angel. We also have a nice break to explore the area in Whistler, often for that, to explore it for that for that Top resort in Canada.

Get the right gear

All ski or snowboard equipment should be comfortable and adequately fit, but nothing is true than if you find a small child. Make sure you are meticulous to ensure that your child remains dressed for the day without tearing off objects or layers.
