A suspect in a bank robbery was shot by officials in Covington when the police tried to take him into custody on Friday afternoon.

It happened around 3 p.m. in the 600 block of the Madison Avenue near the Hotel Covington.

The police said that the suspect had issued a weapon in the US bank in the Madison Avenue and shots were fired when the officials tried to arrest him from the bank about a block.

It is not known whether the suspect has fired the first shots.

The suspect was brought to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center with serious injuries. No officers were injured at the shootout.
