Spring fire season begins for West Virginia and Ohio

Kanawha County, W.Va. (Wsaz) – When the leaves step on the ground of the many trees in West Virginia, brush fire are hired.

“You can also become problems for houses nearby, smoking on the street. There are many different things with which forest fires can cause problems, ”said Charlie Spencer, Division of West Virginia of the Forestry Regional Forester.

With the spring fire season from Saturday, West Virginian is to be reminiscent of only burning outdoors between 5 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Spencer says this is because leaves on the forest square dry out faster, which caused many people with fires and in the end.

“It is not worth taking out a fire,” said Spencer.

Spencer says that you have already managed at least four brush fire this week. Despite the rain, it is still not safe to burn.

“It is really sunny, so these leaves will dry out the forest floor very quickly, and it doesn't take much for a spark to happen,” said Spencer.

Spencer said that if a fire starts during the restricted combustion times, it could quickly get out of control.

“If you allow the fire to get out of control,” said Spencer, “all bets are over.”

The spring forest fire season ends on May 31 in West Virginia.

Kentucky is already in the fire season until April 30th.

The spring season in Ohio runs from March 1 to May 31.

The burning of outdoor rubble is limited for both Kentucky and Ohio from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
