How to avoid when you plant pitfalls | Charlotte, NC Gardening News

The latest cold snapshots can make people difficult to know the right time to grow their plants, but experts say that it could be too early now.

Charlotte, NC – March is almost there. That certainly means that you can start in your garden, right?

Not so fast. You may have to press a break for your plants.

The recent cold snapshots can make it difficult for people to know about the right time to grow their plants, but experts say that it could be too early now.

Sarah Crocker, who works in Charlotte in Oakdale Greenhouses, developed a love for plants after founding their own vegetable and herb garden.

“It was an attempt and error. I started with seeds and didn't really know what I was doing in the first year, none of the seeds really started,” she said.

Crocker told WCNC Charlotte some frequent mistakes that make their customers, including forgetting, pouring their plants and not paying attention to mother nature.

“I would say that they plant their plants and think because the weather is so beautiful that it will stay that way,” said Crocker as an example of a plant.

Although Crocker says that there is now a good time for the plants of seeds, she suggests planting rooted plants until April. And if cold snapshots take place, there are ways to keep your plants safe.

“You can use frost scarves and basically just put these towels over your plants or even use what you have at home, whether it is leaves,” she said. “They only put them through their plants, and that helps to actually damage frost their plants.”

Experts recommend planting in protected areas, and saying that for the first time they are not lucky, they cannot be discouraged because it is only about experiments and errors.
