The Ukiah man dies after the arrest by the deputies of the sheriff, the examined death

A 29-year-old man died after he was arrested on Wednesday evening by the members of the Sheriff of the Mendocino County.

On Wednesday at 7:40 p.m., the deputies responded to a 9-1-1 revival call for an apartment complex in the 300 block of the Brush Street in Ukiah. The MPs discovered a man who fled on foot in front of the area after seeing the MPs.

The MPs recognized the man from previous interactions and followed him on foot on foot.

Video material from the area in which the man had fled was checked by MPs who identified a 29-year-old man from the Ukiah, who was on probation.

The film material showed that the man who came to the apartment complex in a pickup, which was stolen from Contra Costa County. The pick -up was towed by the sheriff department for investigations.

An arrest warrant against the man was issued on suspicion of possessing a stolen vehicle, the arrest was resisted and the probation violated, the sheriff said.

A few hours later, the Ukiah police authority received reports about a man who screamed near the Orr Creek Bridge south of the Brush Street. The MPs came to Ukiah Police and the California Highway Patrol to react to the reports around 10:15 p.m. on Wednesday.

Officers found the suspect in Orr Creek. They asked the man to get out of the stream, but he declined, said the Sheriff's department. As they accompanied him from the water, the MPs noticed that the man “showed a changed level of consciousness”.

The MPs carried the man from the stream to a dam and he became passed out, officers said. They removed the handcuffs and gave him several cans Narcan, a medication used to reverse the opioid overdose. According to the police, the man reacted to the medication, but still had a medical emergency.

The medical staff was called on site, while the officials continued the life -saving measures. He was brought to the emergency room of Adventist Health Ukiah Valley, but after 30 minutes of life -saving efforts in the hospital, he was declared dead at 11:04 p.m.

The incident is currently being examined by the detective of the Sheriff office. An autopsy was planned on Monday to determine the cause of death.

The man's name is held back until his family is notified.
